Nubians

sweet milk, sweet goats

Our Nubians

We do not have a lot of Nubians, but we really like the ones we have. Stacy was our first Nubian, and she is a good example of the kind of goat not to buy if you are going to be serious about showing. Stacy has a crooked leg because of an untreated fracture she suffered as a kid (before we got her) and she is also a bit slow on the uptake - even for a Nubian - but she has a very sweet personality. Well, hello, BooDespite the fact that she is the undisputed queen of her pasture, she rules with a velvet glove. This is definitely not the case with some of our other alpha girls, who will bully smaller goats.

Stacy doesn't hesitate to duke it out if someone challenges her, but as long as everything is going smoothly, she never bullies smaller goats, and in fact will even move over (an inch or so) to let her little Nigerian buddy Stevie get her head into the feeder. Stacy can be safely pastured with anyone, large or small. Some of our other goats - April, for example - prefer to rule with an iron fist. Not Stacy: she's very mellow, and likes to spend the day eating, lounging, and humming little Nubian songs to herself, while her loyal subjects use her as a goat futon.

After Stacy, we had learned a bit and got some much higher quality purebred Nubians. We still like Stacy, though, even though she is no supermodel.

Meet our Nubians.
